Lola & The Loco Pop

This weekend, Lola somehow got introduced to popsicles. They were selling "Loco Pops" where we had our lunch, and Mommy thought it was a capital idea to get a cherry pineapple popsicle and let Lola try it. She wasn't digging it at first, but once she warmed up to the idea, she downed the whole thing (not much of a teaching opportunity for sharing). Conveniently, Mommy then had an afternoon appointment while Daddy spent much of the rest of the day chasing Lola around the ceiling.

We can never go back to pre-popsicle times now.

A Horse Is A Horse Is A Horse, Of Course ...

Lola rode the carousel with Mommy at the Cary Towne Center a few weeks back. I don't think she knew quite how to feel about it.

Family Night At El Rodeo ...

... left us all "muy cansado" (very tired).

Aunt Trish came down to visit with Grandma in Hampstead, then they drove up to Raleigh for dinner at our favorite Mexican place. Cliff, Holly, Carson and Maslan; Dan and Jake (Jenny had to work, which was a bummer); and Scott, Kristin and Lola all took part in the festivities.

It was great to see everyone!

P.S. That is Ube's "Mighty Mouse" pose above.

Ube Hits The Nutmeg State

Recently, we woke up a sleeping Lola, put her in a car seat, put her in a stroller, strapped her into an airplane seat, put her in a stroller, put her in a car seat, stuffed her in a dress in order to try to steal the show from a centenarian, and, finally, put her in a crib in a hotel bathroom. Thank us later, kid.

It was all part of joining family in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to celebrate "Ben Murphy Day" (he already has a key to the city, but we, unfortunately, learned that it doesn't really open as many doors as we would have liked). My great Uncle Ben turned 100 years old, which brought out the local fire department, the mayor of Bridgeport and various other local celebrities. Lola had never met Uncle Ben nor most of my Mom's side of the family (the infamous Cody clan), so we decided to brave LaGuardia, a sketchy airport rental-car establishment and New York traffic to take part in the festivities.

We were all very glad we did, as we had a tremendous time.

Lola's First Haircut ...

... went over about as well as could be expected.

(I couldn't crop Mommy out of this one. For the record, I dig the Diana Ross look).

Walking All Over Elmo

For Valentine's Day, Ube got a pair of Elmo slippers. She finds them difficult to walk in and only keeps them on for roughly 20 seconds at a time, but she always asks Daddy to put them on for a little while after school.

I've had presents I liked for less time than that.

Table Manners, The Hard Way

Lola has fallen in love with massaging her scalp with her dinner. We had pasta last night. We have a pink winter bunny cap. You can figure out the rest.

And yes, we will be updating this blog approximately every seven months. Thanks for stopping by.
